A hunting lodge in the style of a log cabin was built in the middle of the Lewitz in 1705 by order of Duke Friedrich Wilhelm. In 1791, Duke Friedrich Franz I replaced it with a three-winged half-timbered building based on a design by Johann Heinrich von Seydewitz. Today, nothing remains of the avenues that once radiated from the hunting lodge. The connection to the former Ludwigslust Residential Palace can still be recognised and is partially accessible by car. Many personalities once visited the hunting lodge. Among them: Emperors Wilhelm I and Wilhelm II as well as Chancellor Otto von Bismarck.
